FENDER ERIC CLAPTON STRATOCASTER, custom shop, 1988 |
|
gold finish
& gold hardware, first-year, one of a kind,
the 152nd instrument ever built by the Custom Shop, in
its second year. For the real Stratocaster collector, the very first guitars produced by the C.S.
are an important step ahead in the re-birth of the
classic Fender model. These are 100% custom-ordered guitars, built with the greatest care, and mostly are
one-offs. Many C.S.-built Artist Signature guitars
often are the starting point before the beginning of
serial production. Yes, I would hesitate in calling this
guitar a prototype, because it has the biflex truss-rod
installed on regular-production Eric Claptons only
after a first run equipped with a traditional rod, but it
surely is one of the earliest Claptons ever produced, and it is built with the attention to the
detail that only the Custom Shop can offer. The choice of
gold finish with gold hardware has been favored by
Clapton himself for his personal Custom Shop EC
guitar, built 10 years later as a special version of the 50th
Anniversary Strat. '57-style V-shaped neck with 22 frets. Lace Sensor pickups and electronics are the
classic EC-style. Excellent condition, just some
belt-buckle marks on the back, some edge wear and normal
paying wear. Original hardshell case. More pics? |
