GIBSON
ES-335 TD, 1967
Sunburst.
Near mint, 100% original guitar in perfect conditions. Thinline
semi-hollow maple body, one-piece mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with
mother of pearl block inlays. All the specs of this incredible 335 are
typical of the pre-67 version, with four "reflector" control
knobs, old-style tune-o-matic bridge with "ABR-1" and nylon
saddles, thicker five-ply plastic pickguard.
The chrome plated hardware is in perfect conditions: trapeze tailpiece, Kluson Deluxe
double-line/double-ring tuning machines, two Patent-Number humbuckers
with virgin solder joints and untouched metal covers.
The gorgeous sunburst finish is in more than excellent conditions: very
moderate playing wear, one scratch on the side that we have documented
in the pictures below, light and even checking (the back has a little
more than the top), which gives this collector's-quality guitar a
special vintage vibe. Very, very clean guitar.
The neck is straight and has a pleasantly rounded profile, with the
"right" width at the nut. Frets show show some wear but are
still quite good and don't need to be leveled nor replaced.
This fine 335 sounds great, has the voice of the blues. It can
cut like a razor and caress like a velvet drape. The hot humbucker
pickups are very well balanced and offer the wide tonal choice the model
is famous for.
The guitar's beauty is enriched by the nice original hardshell case,
black with yellow lining. The previous owner used to carry in this same
case also his '60s ES-355, so the inside lining shows traces of the
vibrato arm. The case is in excellent conditions, very solid and with
all the latches and hinges perfectly working.
